Tigers’ sniff victory as WI struggling to skip innings defeat

DHAKA, Dec 2, 2018 (BSS) – Tigers’ sniff victory in the second Test as
visiting West Indies is struggling to skip innings defeat while they again
stumbled their second innings scoring 46 for 4 at lunch on the third day of
the second and final Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur
on Sunday.

Being forced to follow on after being dismissed their first innings at 111
on the first session of the third day, West Indies lost Kraigg Brathwaite,
Kieran Powell, Sunil Ambris and Roston Chase at 29 runs of the score board.

West Indies still needs 351 more runs to avoid their innings defeat with
six wickets in hand after the Tigers’ spinners came down heavily to pick up
wickets in regular intervals. Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer were on the
crease with 18 and 13 runs respectively as the umpire removed the bails for
lunch break.

Taijul Islam bagged two wickets conceding 11 runs while Shakib Al Hasan
and Mehidy Hasan Miraz shared one wicket giving away 10 and 18 runs
respectively.

Earlier, Mehidy Hasan Miraz produced his career best figure scoring 7 for
58 to bring West Indies crushing down in their first innings at 111 against
Bangladesh.

This gave the host a domineering 397-run lead as the West Indies pad up
for their second innings.

Miraz, who took three wickets on the second day, today picked up the
wickets of Shimron Hetmyer, Devendra Bishoo, Kemar Raoch and Shane Dowrich to
complete his impressive figure of 7-58, after the visitors added only 36 runs
with their overnight score at 75 on the third day losing the remaining five
wickets.

Apart from Miraz’s seven wickets haul, skipper Shakib Al Hasan claimed
three wickets giving away 27 runs.

Bangladesh took control of the match on the second day, posting a total of
508 thanks to a century from Mahmudullah and then picking up five quick
wickets to demolish the visitors’ top order before the end of second day’s
play.
