Bangladesh reaches 87 for 2 till lunch on day 1 in Dhaka Test

DHAKA, Nov 30, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh lost two wickets in the first
session as they reached 87 for 2 at lunch against visiting West Indies on the
first day of the second and final Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket
Stadium at Mirpur on Friday.

After a good 42-run opening stand by debutant Shadman Islam and Soumya
Sarkar Bangladesh lost their first wicket of Soumya for 19. The left-hander
went for an expansive drive and nicked the chase delivery to the man at first
slip off Roston Chase delivery.

Dependable batsman Mominul Haque was the second Bangladesh’s wicket to fall
just before the lunch break. Kemar Roach took the wicket of Mominul who
scored 29 runs off 46 balls laced with two boundaries before giving an easy
catch to Roston Chase.

Shadman Islam was 36 on the crease as the umpire removed the bails for
lunch break.

Kemar Roach and Roston Chase took one Bangladesh’s wicket each conceding 17
and 21 runs respectively.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the important toss and decided to bat first
against visiting West Indies.

For the first time in their cricket history, Bangladesh has gone into a
Test match without a fast bowler.

Their all-spin attack will be pleased that they will be bowling last.

Bangladesh left out Mustafizur Rahman – who only bowled four overs in the
first Test in Chattogram – and brought in Liton Das as wicketkeeper to enable
Mushfiqur Rahim, who is nursing a finger injury, to play as a specialist
batsman. Shadman Islam, meanwhile, makes his Test debut at the top of the
order in place of Imrul Kayes, who is out with a shoulder injury.

West Indies were forced to make one change, replacing the suspended Shannon
Gabriel with Shermon Lewis, a fast bowler who made his Test debut against
India last month.

Bangladesh first innings – 87 for 2 ,Shad 36 batting, Mominul 29, Soumya
19, Roach 1/17 and Roston 1/21.
