Nationwide ‘Bijoy Mancha’ on Dec 16 to preach liberation war spirit

DHAKA, Nov 29, 2018 (BSS) – ‘Bijoy-Mancha’ (stage of victory) will be built at upazila and district levels across the country on the Victory Day of December 16 to inspire the people with the spirit of Liberation War and make them aware against the war criminals and anti-liberation forces.

Shipping Minister and Sammilita Muktijoddha Sangsad Convener Shajahan Khan announced the programme at a press conference at Segun Bagicha Swadhinata Hall here today.

He said songs, dramas and cultural programmes on the Liberation War will be organized from 3pm to 8pm every day from December 16 to December 28 at the Bijoy-Manch across the country.

From the Mancha, the people will be urged not to vote for Jamaat, rajakars, Al Badrs, war criminals and those who killed innocent people hurling petrol bombs and their supporters, he added.

Khan called upon the people including the youth voters to cast their votes in favour of the candidates of pro-liberation forces to keep intact the spirit of liberation war and ideology of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Announcing others programmes, he said the Sammilita Muktijoddha Sangsad, Sramik Karmachari Peshajibi Muktijoddha Samonnoy Parishad, Antarjatik Judhaparadh Gonobichar Andolon and Muktijoddha Santan O Prajanma Somonnoy Parishad will hold a rally at Shahbagh square at 3pm marking Freedom Fighters Day on December 1.

After the rally, they will bring out a procession from the venue to the historic Suhrawardy Udyan’s Shikha Chirantan.

Marking the Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14, the organisations will pay tributes to the Liberation War martyrs at Rayerbazar killing ground at 8am.

Besides, a rally will be held at the Shahbagh square on December 15 at 3pm and later the participants will go towards Dhanmondi 32 number with procession to pay tributes to Bangabandhu.

Freedom fighters Helal Morshed Khan, Bir Bikram, Kabir Ahmed Khan, Emdad Hossain Matin, Alauddin Miah, ABM Sultan Ahmed and Kali Narayan Lodh, cultural personality Rokeya Prachi, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Employees Union President Abul Hossain and garments workers’ leader Lovely Yasmin were present in the press conference.
