7 killed, 22 injured in two separate accidents in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, Nov 29, 2018 (BSS) – At least seven people were killed and 22 others injured in two separate road accidents in the past ten hours in the district.

In the first incident, two truck drivers were killed as a truck collided head-on with another truck in Saidabad area on Bangabandhu Bride West Link Highway last night. Both the drivers died on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Arif Hossain, 22, resident of Tetulia village under Jashore Sadar Thana and Morshedul Islam, 28, hailed from Jahangirabad area in Shibganj Thana of Bogura district. Two others were also injured in the accident.

In another incident, five women including a mother and her two daughters were killed as a passenger bus collided head-on with a truck at Kaddar Mor’ on the Highway this noon.

The deceased were identified as Rehena Khatun, 40, her two daughters Romana, 16 and Ridi, 12. They were the inhabitants of Pipulbaria village under Sirajganj Sadar Upazila. The other deceased were identified as Aysha Khatun, 30, hailed from Jarila village and Shiria Khatun, 55, a resident at Chatiantoli village under Sadar Upazila. 20 people were also injured in the accident.

The injured were admitted to Begum Fazillatunnesa Mujib Sader Hospital in Sirajganj.

The condition of five patients is stated to be critical, hospital sources said.

The bodies were sent to the hospital for autopsy.
