KUSHTIA, Nov 29, 2018 (BSS) – Joint General Secretary of the ruling Awami
League Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said here today people would boycott BNP in the
upcoming national election due to its involvement in terrorism and
corruption.

“BNP is well established as a party of terrorism and corruption in home
and abroad. So, people of the country would never accept the party. They as
usual would boycott the party in the upcoming general polls,” he said in a
view exchange meeting with local leaders and activities of the AL and its
front organizations at his Kushtia residence.

Referring to terrorism and arson attacks carried out by the BNP, the AL
leader said, “BNP has long been isolated from the people for its terrorist
activities. They are doing politics with Begum Khaleda Zia as the party has
no right to make any appeal before the people”.

Hanif made the remarks in reply to the BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul
Islam Alamgir’s allegation of delivering verdict hurriedly against detained
Begum Khaleda Zia in a false case.

“We have said many times the corruption case was filed against BNP
Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia during the tenure of the caretaker government
and the court gave verdict against him on the basis of evidence,” he
continued.

Regarding independent candidates of his party in the upcoming national
polls, he also said, “Organisational action will be taken against independent
candidates.”

Among others, Kushtia district AL senior vice-president Hazi Rabiul Islam,
general secretary Ajgar Ali, town AL president Taijal Ali Khan, were present
on the occasion.
