Doctors urged to perform duties with utmost sincerity

RAJSHAHI, Nov 29, 2018 (BSS)-Health Secretary GM Saleh Uddin urged doctors
and others concerned to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and
honesty in reaching healthcare services at the doorsteps of rural and
marginalised people.

The health official said the present government is committed to reaching
healthcare services to the rural and marginalised people as they are totally
dependent on public hospitals.

The secretary was addressing the closing ceremony of a two-day medical
service related workshop at Nanking Darbar Hall in the city on Wednesday
afternoon as the chief guest.

Rajshahi Medical University (RMU) organized the workshop titled ‘Applied
Bioethics in Medical Practice, Education and Research: Bangladesh
Perspective’.

The workshop is aimed at disseminating ideas among the doctors and others
concerned on the issue.

Chaired by RMU Vice-chancellor Prof Masum Habib, the session was addressed,
among others by additional secretaries of the Health and Family Welfare
Ministry Bodrunnessa and Dr Anwar Hossain Hawlader, commissioner of Rajshahi
division Nur-Ur-Rahman, director of Bangladesh Medical Research Council Dr
Mahmud Uz Zahan and general secretary of Bangladesh Bioethics Society Dr
Shamima Parveen Lasker.

The chief guest urged the medical practitioners to apply basic principles
of ethical analysis to issues of public health practice and policy and to
identify the role of social and community factors in both the onset and
solution of public health problems using the knowledge acquired from the
workshop.

A large number of professors, medical practitioners and professionals from
different fields joined the workshop.
