Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, Nov 28, 2018 (BSS) – Stock markets closed on Wednesday of the week
with downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.

The falling major sectors were textile, fuel and power and
pharmaceutical and chemical. A total of 133 securities of the large-cap group
moved down due to lower activities.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with
1.82 points down at 5,286.72. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also
followed the same trend with 3.55 points down at 1,222.82 and with 1.43
points down at 1,860.60 respectively.

The day’s trade value at the DSE decreased to Taka 594.28 crore from Taka
638.85 crore of the previous session. But, the daily trade rose to 15.54
crore shares from Tuesday’s 14.91 crore shares.

At the DSE, prices of 125 securities out of the day’s 340 closed higher
against 167 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were MLDYEING, ITC, Saiham Textile, Monno
Stafflers and GLAXOSMITH. The major losing companies were Al Haj Textile,
Square Textile, KPCL, Ambee Pharma and Zaheen Spinning.

KPCL topped the turnover list followed by SKTRIMS, Square Pharma, Ifad
Autos and Saiham Cotton.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with
downward trend with its major CASPI 1.12 points down at 16,196.38.

At the CSE, 239 issues were traded. Of those, 99 closed higher and 111
closed lower when 86.68 lakh shares worth Taka 22.97 crore changed hands.
