Armed Forces Income Tax Fair begins

DHAKA, Nov 28, 2018 (BSS) – A two-day ‘Armed Forces Income Tax Fair-2018′
began at the city’s Sena Malancha convention hall today aiming to facilitate
tax services to the armed forces’ members.

Tax Zone-9, Dhaka, of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and the Armed
Forces Division (AFD) jointly organised the tax fair with a view to promoting
income tax culture.

Adjutant General of Bangladesh Army Major General Mohammad Humayun Kabir
inaugurated the fair as the chief guest while NBR member (Tax administration
and human resources management) Ziauddin Mahmud attended it as special guest.

Commissioner of the Tax Zone-9 Mahmudur Rahman presided over the
function.

Speaking on the occasion, Humayun Kabir said income tax, given by
eligible people, is playing a vital role in continuing the country’s
development activities.

The fair will help the members of armed forces complete their tax related
services, he added.

He urged the NBR officials to make the tax return submission process
easier so that everybody can submit their returns easily.

Ziauddin Mahmud said there is no alternative to boosting tax collection
for strengthening the country’s economy. “That’s why everybody should pay
tax,” he added.

Mahmudur Rahman said paying income tax is an urgent for protecting the
country’s economy, in which way the armed forces protect the country’s
sovereignty.

“Income tax payment is also important for ensuring good governance and
accountability in the country,” he said.

At the fair venue, tax officials are offering various tax-related
services, including taxpayer identification number (TIN) registration, return
submission, and consultancy.

Besides, the NBR, Sonali Bank and Trust Bank limited set up booths at the
fair premises for facilitating financial transactions.

Earlier, the NBR organised a week-long national income tax fair at 166
spots across the country from November 13 to 19.
