Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

DHAKA, Nov 27, 2018 (BSS) – Stocks witnessed upward trend on Tuesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.

The major rising sectors were textile, food and allied, pharmaceuticals and chemicals and engineering.

A total of 122 large cap securities moved up on higher activities.

The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 9.29 points up at 5,288.55. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 followed the same trend with 2.15 points up at 1,226.37 and with 4.31 points up at 1,862.04 respectively.

The volume of shares increased to 14.91 crore from Monday’s 13.53 crore shares and the daily turnover in value at the DSE rose to Taka 638.85 crore from Monday’s Taka 615.75 crore.

At the DSE, price of 159 securities out of the day’s 336 closed higher against 133 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were MLDYEING, RD Food, JMISMDL, Salvo Chemicals and WMSHIPYARD. The major losing issues were Atlas Bangla, Oimex, Jute Spinning, Prime Tex and EBL1STMF.

KPCL topped the turnover leaders followed by Berger PBL, UPGDCL, Saiham Cotton and WMSHIPYARD.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 18.97 points up at 16,197.51.

At the CSE, 246 issues were traded. Of those, 105 closed higher and 106 closed lower when 83.39 lakh shares worth Taka 23.86 crore changed hands.
