Flag meeting in Kurigram decides to curb cross-border crimes

RANGPUR, Nov 26, 2018 (BSS) – A battalion commander level courtesy flag
meeting between Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) and Indian Border Security
Force (BSF) held on Kurigram frontier on Sunday afternoon decided to curb
cross-border crimes.

“Initiated by BGB side, the meeting was held on Nagraj frontier under
Anontapur border outpost inside Bangladesh territory near boundary pillar No-
948/7-S in Phulbari upazila of Kurigram under jurisdiction of Lalmonirhat 15
BGB battalion,” a press release said today.

Commanding Officer of Lalmonirhat 15 BGB battalion Lieutenant Colonel Md
Anwar-Ul-Alam led the six member BGB delegation in the meeting while the six-
member BSF delegation was led by Commandant of 42 BSF battalion Shree Anup
Lal Bhagat.

The meeting discussed issues like prevention of cross-border crimes,
illegal intrusion, drug trafficking, trespassing of criminals with arms,
explosives and ammunition on the eve of parliamentary elections in Bangladesh
and other related matters.

“After elaborate discussions, both sides agreed to assist each-other in
curbing all sorts of cross-border crimes, illegal intrusion of criminals,
smuggling and trafficking of drugs, arms, explosives and ammunition,” the
release added.

Lieutenant Colonel Anwar-Ul-Alam today told BSS that the courtesy flag
meeting between the two neighbouring border guards was held in a very
friendly, cooperative and cordial atmosphere.

Earlier, Lieutenant Colonel Anwar-Ul-Alam welcomed his counterpart 42
BSF Battalion Commandant Shree Anup Lal Bhagat on arrival of the BSF
delegation on the zero line, the release said.
