Workshop for prevention of militancy and drug held in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, NOV 26, 2018 (BSS) – A day long programme on the role of
teachers, the Alem and the Olama in prevention of terrorism, militancy and
drugs was held here yesterday.

District police and Islamic Foundation (IF) jointly arranged the
function on Sunday. Deputy Director of IF M. Alamgir Sikder presided over the
ceremony.

Director general (DG) of Islamic Foundation Shamim Mohammad Afzal
addressed the function as the chief guest and superintendent of police
Engineer Abdul Mannan Miah and additional deputy commissioner (General) ABM
Sadiqur Rahman was present at the event as the special guests.

On the occasion among others deputy director, coordination division of
IF, Muzibullah Farhad, assistant director Mostafizur Rahman, Imam of
Fakirpara Jame Mosque of the district town Mufti Mowlana Jobayer Ahmad and
Pess Imam Bahirgola Jame Mosque of Sundarganj Mowlana Ruhul Amin also
addressed.

The speakers underscored the need for building social movement for the
prevention of terrorism, militancy and drugs through active participation of
all to build a happy, prosperous and peaceful society.

In this context, the Alema and the Olema as religious leaders should
come forward with positive attitude and play significant role to root out the
terrorism, militancy and drugs through motivating the people, they also said.

DG of IF Shamim Mohammad Afzal said the country is marching towards
desired development, while vested quarters are making conspiracy and trying
to hinder the development activities of the country.

The DG urged the Alema, the Olema and the imams to conduct campaign by
the khutba against the terrorism, militancy and drugs.

He also called upon all to remain alert and inform the police about the
militants. So nobody can conduct terrorism and militant activities to
destabilize the society.

More than one thousand teachers, alem and olama participated in the
workshop.
