DHAKA, Nov 25, 2018 (BSS) – The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
has nominated Additional Inspector General of Police Md Mokhlesur Rahman as
one of the global champions for his outstanding contribution to preventing
violence against women and girl children.

A total of 16 people from 16 countries, including Mukhlesur from
Bangladesh, have been nominated as global champion for preventing violence
against women and girl children, said an official release of police
headquarters.

Mukhlusur has long been working in creating awareness against gender
based violence like child marriage and repression on women and girl children,
and that is why the UNFPA has included the Bangladeshi police official in its
activities since 2015.

The police official was appointed as the advisor of the UNFPA. In line
with the advice of Mukhlesur, ‘Women Help Desks’ were introduced in 15 police
stations in the country under a pilot project of the UNFPA.
