PIA plane hits another aircraft at Pakistan’s Karachi airport

ISLAMABAD, Nov. 25, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) – An aircraft of the Pakistan
International Airlines hit another plane at the Jinnah International Airport
on Saturday in the country’s southern port city of Karachi, local media
reported.

Local Urdu channel Geo TV quoted official sources late Saturday as saying
that the engine of an ATR aircraft was being given a run-up during an
examination at a hanger, at which the technician present in the cockpit could
not keep control over the plane which rushed and hit another plane parked at
the airport.

The fuel tank and an engine of the ATR aircraft were seriously damaged
after it crashed with the other plane.

No one got hurt in the accident as no passenger was aboard, the reports
said.

An emergency was imposed at the airport and firefighters were summoned as
fuel spilled out of the plane following the accident.

However, neither of the aircraft caught fire following the collision.

The situation was under control and an investigation had been launched
into the accident, the reports said.
