Narsingdi farmers busy with Robi crop cultivation
NARSINGDI, Nov 24, 2018 (BSS)-Farmers of Narsingdi district are now busy
with farming various Robi crops.
Sources with the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said the
department has taken an elaborate programme to expedite the cultivation of
Robi crops in the during this winter season.
Under the programme, a total of 74,244 hectares of land have been brought
under various Robi crops cultivation. The crop production target has been
fixed at 480776 metric tonnes.
The crops include Boro paddy, wheat, mustard, potato, sweet potato, ground
nut, vegetables, chili, onion, garlic, turmeric, coriander, lentil, bean and
others.
Deputy Director DAE Narsingdi Shovan Kumer Dar said farmers in different
upazilas of the district have already cultivated 25 percent of these crops
and the cultivation of rest crops will be started very soon.
The DAE official expressed the hope that the target of Robi crop
production in the district will be achieved if the favorable climatic
condition continues.
