Road crash kills two in Lalmonirhat
RANGPUR, Nov 23, 2018 (BSS) – A minor boy and a truck helper were killed in
a road accident at Fakirer Tokeya point on the Rangpur-Kurigram highway under
Sadar upazila in Lalmonirhat district today.
The deceased were identified as Mostafizur Rahman, 10, son of Shamsul Haque
of nearby village Umapoti Harnarayan in Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila and truck
helper Abul Kashem, 45, of Satmatha Balatari area in Rangpur city.
“The accident occurred when a Kurigram-bound passengers bus from Dhaka hit
a standing truck by the roadside around 9 am, killing the boy and helper of
the standing truck on the spot,” said Mahfuz Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of
Lalmonirhat Sadar Thana.
The night coach hit them while the helper was repairing his truck and the
ill-fated minor boy eagerly watching the repairing works there after its (the
bus) driver lost control over the steering.
“Lalmonirhat Sadar Thana police and personnel of Lalmonirhat Station Fire
Service and Civil Defense rushed the spot, recovered the bodies, salvaged the
vehicles and cleared the highway for vehicular movement,” the OC said.
A case was filed in this connection with Lalmonirhat Sadar Thana police.
