Two JMB militants held from Dinajpur, Lalmonirhat

RANGPUR, Nov 23, 2018 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested
two presumed militants of Jama’atul Mujahedeen Bangladesh (JMB) from
different places in Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat districts last night, a press
release said today.

Two special operational teams of the Militancy Cell of RAB-13 from
Rangpur battalion conducted separate raids and arrested the two JMB men with
video clips and magazines on militancy preserved in mobile phone sets.

In the first raid, the elite force arrested JMB operative Abdur Rashid,
48, of village Syedpur in Dinajpur Kotwali Thana with mobile phone set
containing video clips and magazines on militancy from nearby Sikdarhat area
of Dinajpur district.

“Earlier, Rashid suffered seven-year jail term for conducting militant
activities as a member of the banned militant outfit JMB and he again started
militant activities after his recent release from the jail,” the release
added.

In another raid, a separate operation team of the Militancy Cell from
RAB-13 battalion arrested JMB operative Mahmud Hassan Ruman, 32, of village
Rasulganj from nearby Patgram Bazar in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat
district.

During primary interrogation, the arrested militants admitted that they
had been remaining in hideouts, conducting organisational activities,
colleting funds, purchasing arms and planning for conducting subversive
activities.

“The arrested militants also admitted that they had been inspiring
innocent young people to become their new members,” the release said.

The elite force handed over the arrested militants to Dinajpur Kotwali
Police station and Patgram Thana in Lalmonirhat after filing separate cases
in these connections.
