DHAKA, Nov 22, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League joint general secretary Mahabub-
ul-Alam Hanif today accused BNP of trying to make the neutral Election
Commission (EC) questionable in many ways.
“It has become the BNP’s mindset to make the neutral Election Commission
questionable,” told a discussion, arranged by Swapna Foundation, at Jatiya
Press Club (JPC) in the capital.
Earlier, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that
the present EC was not neutral, Hanif said, adding “Now it is turned into
your mental disorder…no man impartial in your eyes except former CEC Aziz
who created 1.35 crore fake voters”.
The AL leader was very critical of the role of Jatiya Oikyafront and its
convener Dr Kamal Hossain, saying that they (alliance leaders) did not make
their stance clear before public.
“Dr Kamal is claiming himself as a pro-liberation one, but he formed an
alliance with BNP and its major ally Jamaat,” he said.
Chaired by Swapna Foundation president Riaza Uddin Riaz, the discussion
was addressed, among others, by AL joint general secretary Dr Dipu Moni and
general secretary of AL’s Dhaka South city unit Shahe Alam Murad.
