DHAKA, Nov 22, 2018 (BSS) – A textbook titled, ‘Principles and Practice
of Nephrology’ has been launched for the undergraduate and post-graduate
students of the nephrology department aimed at reducing dependence on foreign
books.
Kidney Foundation president Prof Harun-ur-Rashid unveiled the book at a
function at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Tuesday.
BSMMU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Rafiqul Alam, and Prof Shahana Akhter
Rahman, Prof Shahidullah Sikder and senior teachers of the BSMMU’s Nephrology
Department were present, a press release said today.
Associate professor of the BSMMU’s Nephrology Department Dr Muhammad
Nazrul Islam wrote the textbook.
Nazrul said kidney diseases are highly prevalent across the globe,
including Bangladesh, and the students of Bangladesh in this field depend on
foreign books for lack of available books written by Bangladeshi authors.
“That’s why I took an initiative to publish a book on nephrology for our
students,” he added.
