Bangladesh reach 105 for 2 at lunch in 1st Test

CHITTAGONG, Nov 22,2018 (BSS)-Bangladesh lost two wickets in the first session as the home side reached 105 for 2 at lunch against visiting West Indies on the first day the first Test of two-match series at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Thursday.

West Indies pacer Kemar Roach struck early on Bangladesh innings as he picked up the wicket of opener Soumya Sarkar (0) who gave a back catch to wicket keeper Shane Dowrich in the third ball of the first over.

After the departure of Soumya early, Mominul Haque then came to crease. He shared 104-run second wickets stand with another opener Imrul Kayes to take the team to a comfortable position before Jomel Warrican broke the partnership removing Kayes just before the lunch break.

The left handed batsman Kayes scored 44 runs off 87 balls laced with five boundaries before giving a catch to Sunil Ambris.

Mominul Haque, completed his half century, was on the crease with 55 runs as the umpire removed the bails for lunch break.

Kemar Roach and Jomel Warrican took one Bangladesh’s wicket conceding 15 and 26 runs respectively.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. The home side has handed a Test debut to Nayeem Hasan, and also has Shakib and Soumya Sarkar back in the XI.

Khaled Ahmed and Ariful Haque make way for them, while Liton Das was already dropped from the squad.

West Indies have made just one change, bringing in Kemar Roach in place of the injured Jason Holder.
