One Indian army soldier, 2 militants killed in Kashmir on polls day
NEW DELHI, Nov. 20, 2018(BSS/XINHUA) – At least one soldier belonging to
the Indian Army and two militants were killed in an encounter that took place
in Indian-controlled Kashmir on Tuesday.
Besides, a couple of more soldiers were injured in the encounter, said
local media reports.
According to a report by the “India Today” TV channel, the encounter took
place in the Shopian district of the state, just minutes before voting was to
start for local body elections.
According to the latest reports, the encounter had ended and a combing
operation was launched to find any more terrorists in the area.
Voting for the second phase of local body elections in Indian-controlled
Kashmir is being held on Tuesday.
Adequate security measures have been put in place and forces deployed in
strength to ensure smooth and peaceful polling.
