JU Chemistry dept holds fresher reception
SAVAR, Nov 19, 2018 (BSS) – Chemistry department of Jahangirnagar
University (JU) today accorded a fresher’s reception for the newly admitted
students under the academic session 2017-18.
‘Rashayan Sangshad,’ the student organization of the department organized
the function at the ‘Gallery Room’ of the department this morning.
Presided over by Chairman of the department Professor Dr Nurul Abser, noted
writer, researcher and former professor of the department Dr Rabiul Islam
addressed the function as the chief guest.
Addressing the function, he said, “You all (chemistry students) have to
learn chemistry not only for getting a good score in the examination but also
for the need of life. Chemistry lab makes a man more persistent and more
perfect and it will assist in your later life to shine.”
He shared his various achievements and experience of his 41-year of
teaching life at the department in front of the students.
Conducted by President of ‘Rashayan Sangshad’ Professor Dr Mamun Hossain,
Former JU VC and the former member of Public Service Commission Professor Dr
Shariff Enamul Kabir, Senior teacher of the department Professor Dr Md Elias
Molla and Professor Dr Nurun Nahar addressed the function, among others.
At the function, a 14-member new executive body of ‘Rashayan Sangshad’ was
announced for the next one year with Debashis Kumar Barman of Masters and
Atikur Rahman Sabbir of fourth year as Vice President (VP) and General
Secretary (GS) respectively.
The daylong programme also featured a colorful cultural function which was
staged at the end of the reception ceremony.
Over 400 teachers and students of the department attended the function.
