None expected BNP attack on police: Tofail

DHAKA, Nov 15, 2018 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today said BNP had failed to resist the parliamentary election in 2014 through killings and arson attacks.

“BNP again attacked policemen on duty and torched vehicles in front of party office, and no one expected it from them,” he said.

The minister was addressing the inauguration ceremony of international exposition on textile, garment machinery and accessories as chief guest at International Convention City Basundhara, organized by Redcarpet365, said a ministry release.

Mentioning that law enforcement agencies are now under control of the Election Commission, Tofail said: “We are doing routine work in the ministry without exercising any executive power.”

“Further rescheduling of election would not be a right decision, as everything is moving ahead towards holding a free, fair and participatory election in the country,” he said.

In the 3rd edition of the BIGTEX (Bangladesh International Garment and Textile Machinery Expo of Bangladesh) backhaul accessories exhibitions, latest machinery, technologies, dyes, chemicals, yarns, fabrics would be showcased at 180 stalls with products from 12 countries– Bangladesh, China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Portugal, Taiwan, Turkey and USA.

The exhibitions will be open for general and trade visitors from 10.30am to 7.30pm from November 15 to 18.
