Bangladesh extend lead to 442 at tea on day-4 in 2nd Test

DHAKA, Nov 14, 2018 (BSS) – A captaincy knock century came from the bat
of Mahmudullah saw Bangladesh recovered from early second innings collapse as
they scored 224 for 6 extending their lead to 442 at tea against Zimbabwe on
the fourth day of second and final Test on Wednesday.

Bangladesh added 146 runs in the second session losing two more wickers
at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.

Mohammad Mithun scored 110-ball 67 before he fell to Sikandar Raza. He
smashed four boundaries and one over boundary while Sean Williams sent back
to debutant Ariful Haque (5) making him clean bowled.

Mahmudullah completed his century with style to remain unbeaten with 101
along with Mehidy Hasan who was with 27 on the crease as the umpire removed
the bails for tea break.

Kyle Jarvis and Donald Tiripano shared two wickets giving away 27 and 31
runs respectively.

Earlier, Bangladesh lost four wickets in their second innings as they
went to lunch 78 for 4.

Back with a healthy 218 runs first innings lead, the Tigers started
second innings seriously considering the decision not to enforce the follow-
on and bat again.

Kyle Jarvis launched early inroad on Bangladesh innings sending both the
Tigers’ openers early in the morning session.

Imrul Kayes was the first man to go for 3 while Liton Das also followed
the footprint of Kayes. Mominul Haque nicked Tiripano through to Chakabva as
Bangladesh were in early trouble in the first session, losing three quick
wickets.

Mushfiqur Rahim, who hit an unbeaten 219 in the first innings, lost his
wicket too scoring only seven runs before perished to Tiripono, leaving
Bangladesh in deep trouble.

Mohammad Mithun and skipper Mahmudullah were on the crease with 34 and 24
runs respectively as the umpire removed the bails for lunch break.
