Election fever grips Khulna
KHULNA, Nov 14, 2018(BSS) – The election fever has gripped all the six
constituencies in Khulna after the reschedule announced by the Election
Commission.
The aspiring candidates, for the upcoming 11th general election scheduled
to be held on December 30 next, have gone to Dhaka to collect nomination
forms from their respective party offices.
The aspirants of the Awami League, BNP, Jatiya Party, JSD and other
political parties have visited their party head offices in Dhaka.
Meanwhile, the incumbent law makers of Awami League in Khulna have
already collected nomination forms from the party head office.
A total of 37 aspirants of Awami League for six constituencies of Khulna
to be appeared before candidate selection board at the party headquarter
today, insiders said.
All incumbent parliament members including Fisheries and Live Stock
Minister Naryan Chandra Chanda and new comers of the party have submitted
their nomination forms, except parliament member of Khulna-2 constituency
Mizanur Rahman Mizan. Sheikh Salauddin Zwel, nephew of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman, is the lone candidate of Khulna-2
constituency.
Talking to BSS, incumbent parliament member of the constituency Mizanur
Rahman Mizan said, as it is the decision of party chief and Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina, I appreciated the decision, he said, adding that I will work
for ‘boat’ whoever gets the party nomination.
Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukder Abdul Khaleque told BSS,
leaders and activities of AL will campaign for ‘boat’ whoever gets party
ticket.
Fisheries and Live Stock Minister Naryan Chandra Chanda, Former talent
footballer Salam Murshedi and nephew of Bangabandhu Sheikh Zwel may get party
ticket for Khulna-5, Khulna-4 and Khulna-2 constituencies, he said.
Meanwhile, a total of 17 aspirants submitted nomination forms to BNP
selection board, said Fakrul Alam, organizing secretary of city unit BNP.
