DHAKA, Nov 13, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Olympic women’s football team
completed their gruesome campaign in the FIFA Olympic Women’s Football
Tournament 2020 Qualifiers Round -1 as they played out to a 1-1 goal draw
with Nepal in their last game of Group C match held in Yangon on Tuesday.

In the day’s match, Niru Thapa put Nepal ahead early in the 17th minute
while Akhi Khatun restored the parity for Bangladesh in the 90+2 minute of
the match.

The match was just a part of the formalities as two defeats have already
knocked the team off the tournament race.

The Bangladesh women’s team is expected to return home tomorrow
(Wednesday) afternoon.

After the match, team’s coach Choton, once again was full of admiration
for his young team and players.

“We recovered physically and emotionally very well after the game with
India. We prepared professionally for the Nepal game and our plan worked very
well. I was extremely pleased that Aki scored from our corner as we spend a
lot of time in our preparation on set plays,” said Choton.

The young Bangladeshi team continued to reach milestones of immense
proportion. In two weeks, the team and players have created and reached two
historical landmarks for Women’s Football.

Aki Khatun was proud of her goal and was excited for everyone that they
finished the tournament on a high note. She mentioned her desire to continue
and learn and feels that this level of International competition is
invaluable to her and the other young players.
