Bangladesh lose to England in Women’s World T20

DHAKA, Nov 13, 2018 (BSS)- Bangladesh women’s cricket team suffered a
seven-wicket defeat to England in their second group A rain-marred match of
the Women’s World T20 in St. Lucia on Monday.

Put to bat first by England, Bangladesh managed to score 76 for 9 in 20
overs with opener Ayasha Rahman top-scoring 39 runs off 52-ball hitting two
fours and three sixes.

However, she got a little support from other end as the second highest
score (12) of the innings came from the bat of Jahanara Alam.

Kirstie Gordon was the pick of England bowler taking three wickets of
Bangladesh giving only 16 runs.

Chasing a winning target of 77 runs set by Bangladesh, the English side
lost two early wickets to Bangladesh skipper Salma Khatun, but raced to the
revised target of 64 in 9.3 overs with seven wickets in hand.

Apart from Salma Khatun’s two wickets for 17 runs, Khadiza-Tul Kubra took
one wicket for 13 runs.

Earlier, the Tigress lost their group opening match of the tournament by
60 runs against hosts West Indies.

Bangladesh placed in group A along with England, South Africa Sri Lanka
and West Indies, will play their remaining group matches against Sri Lanka
and South Africa on November 14 and 18 respectively at Darren Sammy Cricket
Ground, Gros Islet.
