77 best tax payers honored in Khulna
KHULNA, Nov 12, 2018 (BSS) – Like previous years, the government here today
honoured 77 best tax payers in Khulna Income Tax Zone for paying big amount
of tax.
They were accorded reception in four categories – highest tax payers, long
time tax payers, highest women tax payers and youth recognised tax payers.
The government conferred the accolade on them as part of its efforts to
encourage high-income tax payers to pay tax properly.
Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque handed over
certificates and crests to the best tax payers through a ceremony held at a
city hotel.
Khulna Income Tax Zone organised the function with commissioner of Khulna
Income Tax Zone Md Zahangir Alam in the chair.
KCC mayor said 90 percent money come from our own income to the national
budget though once upon a time budget of Bangladesh was depended foreign aid.
The taxpayers welcomed the government’s initiative with some of them saying
the recognition will encourage high-income businessmen to pay taxes properly.
The NBR began honouring taxpayers at the city corporation and district
levels from 2008.
Among others, NBR member Kalipado Halder, Khulna divisional Commissioner
Lokman Hossain Mia, Income Tax Commissioner of Tax Appellate Division
Prashanta Kumar Roy, Additional DIG of Khulna Range Habibur Rahman,
Commissioner of Customs Excise and VAT Commissioner Md Mostoba Ali, and
President of Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Kazi Aminul
Haque, addressed as special guests.
Joint Tax Commissioner Md Monzur Alam delivered the welcome speech.
