Two DU students get Prof Mannan scholarship
DHAKA, Nov 12, 2018 (BSS) – Two meritorious students of Dhaka University
(DU) have been awarded “Prof AKM Abdul Mannan Trust Fund Scholarship” for
their outstanding academic performances.
The recipients of scholarships are Md Ashraful Islam of the Mathematics
Department and Mustafizur Rahman of the Applied Mathematics Department.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed scholarships
among the students at a function at the VC’s lounge of the university today.
Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof Dr Md Abdul Aziz, Chairman of the
Mathematics Department of Prof Dr Amal Krishna Halder, Associate Professor of
the Applied Mathematics Department Dr Muhammad Ferdows, daughter of late Prof
AKM Abdul Mannan, Associate Professor of the Department of Zoology Dr
Jannatul Ferdous and Acting Registrar Md Enamuzzaman were present at the
function with DU Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin in the chair.
Addressing the function, Prof Akhtaruzzaman urged students to work for the
betterment of their families, societies as well as the country.
“Students have to always engage themselves with good deeds”, he said.
Late AKM Abdul Mannan was a professor of the Department of Mathematics at
different government colleges. He obtained both Honor’s and Master degrees
from the Department of Mathematics of the DU. He died on July 10, 2009 in
Dhaka.
