AMMAN, Nov 12, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) – Jordanian government said Monday the
number of people killed by the severe floods that hit Jordan over the weekend
rose to 13 after finding another body of a five-year-old girl.

Jordanian Civil Defence Department said the body was found 20 km away from
an area in Madaba that was hit by heavy floods on Friday.

More than 500 civil defence and security personnel took part in the search
for the girl.

Severe floods on Friday hit Maan governorate, Wadi Mousa area, Petra,
Madaba and other areas in Jordan following heavy rainfall across the kingdom.

Thousands of people were rescued from various areas, including hundreds of
tourists in the city of Petra, one of the most famous tourist attractions in
the Middle East.

Authorities announced the state of emergency to deal with the weather-
related developments.

This week, heavy rainfall is expected in several parts in Jordan.

Some meteorologists warned that Jordan is expected to witness more floods
during the upcoming season as a result of climate change.
