S.Korea’s car export posts double-digit growth for more working days in
October

SEOUL, Nov. 12, 2018 (BSS/Xinhua) – South Korea’s automobile export posted
a double-digit growth in October on more working days, a government report
showed Monday.

The number of locally-made cars exported in October was 230,086, up 32.2
percent from the same month of last year, according to the Ministry of Trade,
Industry and Energy.

In terms of value, the car shipment advanced 32.1 percent over the year to
3.92 billion U.S. dollars in October.

It was attributed to more working days. The number of business days
increased by 5 days in November compared with a year earlier as the Chuseok
holiday, the South Korean version of Thanksgiving Day, moved to September
this year from October last year.

Auto production in local factories jumped 36 percent over the year to
381,595 units in October, recording the highest monthly figure in 2018.

Auto parts export surged 36.9 percent to 2.15 billion U.S. dollars in
October on demand from North America and Europe.

In the domestic market, car sales gained 23.6 percent to 160,881 vehicles
in October on more business days and the cut in consumption taxes.

The sale of cars, made by local manufacturers, advanced 22.9 percent to
138,184 units in October, while the imported vehicle sales soared 27.6
percent to 22,697 last month.
