LGED implements massive development works in Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH, Nov 11, 2018 (BSS)- The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) has implemented massive development works in the last nine years in Mymensingh district.

The works mainly including rural road development and repair, construction of bridges and culverts, upazila muktijoddha complex construction, accommodation of poor freedom fighters, development of local haats (markets), primary school construction, upazila parishad complex construction and water resources development.

During the period, the LGED department developed 819 kilometer (km) rural roads and repaired 1530-km while the development works of 478-km roads have been continued in the district, local LGED office said.

Besides, the department constructed 590 government primary schools, six upazila complexes and 72 residential buildings for homeless freedom fighters during the period.

The construction works of 40 primary school buildings and six upazila freedom fighter complex buildings are still being built.

LGED built about 3092-meter long bridges and culverts in all 13 upazilas of the district during the last nine years. On the other hand, the construction works of 992-meter long bridges and culverts are still going on.

LGED constructed 810-metre long bridge on the Brahmaputra river at Shaltia in Gafargeon upazila. Besides, the construction work of 165-metre long bridge on the Godaria river in Haluaghat upazila is continued.

During the period, the department constructed four upazila parishad complexes, 55 union parishad complexes and 35 hat bazars in the district.

LGED also developed 21,636 hectares small water resources and constructed 24 sluice gates, rubber Dam and re-excavated of 132-km long canals. LGED also built over 15-km Dam in the district during the present government.
