AL offers prayer for Syed Ashraful Islam’s early recover
DHAKA, Nov 09, 2018 (BSS) – The ruling Awami League (AL) held a doa and milad mahfil seeking early recovery of its Presidium Member and also Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam this afternoon.
AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader was present as the chief guest at the mahfil held at its central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.
Among others, Syed Ashraful Islam’s younger brother Major General (rtd) Syed Shafaetul Islam, AL Joint General Secretaries, Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanok, Organizing Secretaries Ahmed Hossain, AKM Enamul Haque Shameem, and Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, were present on the occasion.
The party also held similar programmes at metropolitan, district, upazila and union levels across the country for early recovery of Syed Ashraful Islam.
Syed Ashraful Islam, also former General Secretary of the AL, has been undergoing treatment at Bangkok of Thailand.
Wishing early recover of Syed Ashraf, Obaidul Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said, “It is a matter of sorrow that brilliant politician like Syed Ashraful Islam have been suffering from prolonged sickness at a crucial moment ahead of the 11th parliamentary election. We are now feeling his absence as he is a member of parliamentary board of the AL.”
Describing Syed Ashraful Islam as a perfect gentleman and polite, he said, “Syed Ashraful Islam had served the AL as general secretary twice with dedication and trust.”
The presence of a large number of leaders and activists in the programme at a short notice has proved his (Asraf) popularity in the party, he added.
