DHAKA, Nov 8, 2018 (BSS)-BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was taken to old central jail from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and produced before a special court there in the Niko graft case.
She was discharged from BSMMU upon approval from the medical board formed for her treatment, said BSMMU Director Brigadier General Abdullah-Al-Harun.
She was admitted to the hospital on October 6 following a High Court order.
After the hearing at special judge court No 9, Khaleda Zia was taken back to the jail.
The court also set November 14 for the next hearing in the case.
On Wednesday, the law ministry issued a gazette notification transferring the court citing security reasons.
According to the gazette, room no 7 of the old central jail’s administration building will be the venue for the makeshift court.
Bikash Kumar Saha, joint secretary (Admin) of the law ministry, signed the gazette notification.
On December 9, 2007, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed the Niko graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing Khaleda and 10 others of abusing power to award a gas exploration and extraction deal to Canadian company Niko during her tenure as the prime minister.
