DHAKA, Nov 7, 2018 (BSS) – Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad-led United National Alliance (UNA) today urged the Election Commission (EC) to announce the election schedule tomorrow.
A 16-member delegation of the alliance placed the demand at a meeting with the EC at the Nirbachan Bhaban in the city’s Agargaon area.
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda and other election commissioners were present at the meeting.
Coming out of the meeting, JP Secretary General Ruhul Amin Howladar said they placed various demands, including prevention of the use of muscle power and black money in the election, deployment of army as striking force, seizing illegal arms before the polls and cancellation of the plan of using Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in the election, for holding a free, fair and neutral election.
The UNA delegation included JP presidium members Anisul Islam Mahmud, MA Sattar, Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, Professor Delwar Hossain Khan, Syed Abu Hossain Babla, Mashiur Rahaman Ranga, Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Jatiya Islami Mohajote Chairman Abu Naser Wahed Faruq and BNA Chairman Sekander Ali Moni.
