BSTI fines Tk 4.66 lakh in Rajshahi, Rangpur
RAJSHAHI, Nov 7, 2018 (BSS)-Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution
(BSTI) penalised 49 shops over Taka 4.66 lakh in Rajshahi and Rangpur
divisions in October this year for selling and manufacturing adulterated food
items.
Twenty-four mobile courts of the BSTI Rajshahi regional office in
association with local administration conducted drives in different parts of
the two divisions and found the shops selling substandard food items,
violating the existing rules and regulations.
The courts also realised Taka 4,66,600 from the shop owners during the
drives conducted in 12 districts under the two divisions.
BSTI Director (Rajshahi) Taher Jamil said such drives will continue in
future.
The BSTI regional office also conducted 28 surveillance drives in 13
districts for prevention of pilferage in weight and measurement and formalin
use in fruit and fish.
