Victory Day celebrations Programmes in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Nov 06, 2018 (BSS) – The district administration have chalked
out programmes to celebrate the Victory Day-2018 here on December 16 next
through paying rich tributes to the martyred sons and daughters of the soil.

The programmes were finalised at a preparatory meeting held at
conference room of the District Collectorate on Monday with Deputy
Commissioner Enamul Habib in the chair.

Acting President of district Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed,
District Council Chairman Advocate Chhafia Khanom, Commander of district unit
of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad Mosaddek Hossain Bablu, Assistant Director
of RAB-13 Motahar Hossain, General Secretary of city AL Tushar Kanti Mandal,
General Secretary of district Mohila AL Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite, among
others, took part at the discussion.

The meeting decided to take adequate security measures for ensuring
peaceful celebrations of the Victory Day programmes.

The observance will begin with 31-gun salutes at Police Lines Ground,
placing wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar and independence memorial
‘Arjan’ and hoisting of national flag atop all government, semi-government
and private buildings during the sunrise.

Divisional Commissioner Mohamed Joynul Bari, Deputy Inspector General
for Rangpur Range Devdas Bhattacharya, Acting President of district AL Mamtaz
Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib, Police Super Mizanur Rahman
and District Muktijoddha Commander Mosaddek Hossain Bablu will place wreaths
first.

Later, leaders of different political parties, heads of government
departments and educational institutions, socio-cultural, professional,
business, human rights and other organisations, NGOs and common people will
place wreaths there.

The programmes include illumination and decoration of the main islands
of roads, roadsides and various buildings with national flags and colored
miniature posters and banners, and Victory Day marathon.

The Divisional Commissioner will hoist the national flag and take salute
at march-past and displays by freedom fighters, police, Ansar-VDP, BNCC, fire
service and civil defense personnel, students, children, jail guards, scouts,
rover scouts and girl guides at Rangpur Stadium.

The District Information Office will screen documentary films throughout
the month of December on the War of Liberation and Victory Day.

Special prayers will be offered seeking divine peace for departed souls
of martyred of the War of Liberation and martyred intellectuals, progress and
welfare of the nation at all places of religious worship.

The authorities concerned will serve improved diets to inmates of
hospitals, orphanages, Government Shishu Paribars, jail, vagabond and
children centres.

Freedom fighters and relatives of martyred freedom fighters will be
accorded receptions at Town Hall and the main discussion will be held at the
Central Shaheed Minar premises in the evening marking the Day.

Besides, drawing competitions for children, charity shooting
competitions, special discussions and sports competitions for women, charity
football match, sports and essay competitions, cultural functions and prize
giving ceremony will be organised.
