BGB seizes smuggled goods from Lalmonirhat borders

LALMONIRHAT, Nov 05, 2018 (BSS) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a
huge number of smuggled goods worth Taka 1.90 lakh during the past 48 hours
till this morning from different borders under the jurisdictions of
Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion.

“The patrolling BGB members of Ramkhana, Burirhat, Anontapur, Shimulbari
and Lohakuchi border outposts seized the smuggled goods in separate raids
conducted during the period,” a press release said today.

The seized goods included 182 bottles of smuggled phensidyl, 24 bottles of
foreign wine, 40 bottles of Indian Escaf syrup, three kilograms of ganja and
three Indian cows worth over Taka 1.90 lakh.

“The seized goods were deposited with the customs authorities and
Department of Narcotics Control for taking further legal steps,” the release
added.

Confirming seizure of huge smuggled goods, Commanding Officer (CO) of
Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion Lt Colonel Anwarul Alam told BSS that similar
anti-smuggling and anti-drug drives would continue in future.
