Hong Kong, Shanghai stocks open with losses
HONG KONG, Nov 5, 2018 (BSS/AFP) – Shares tumbled in Hong Kong at the
start of business Monday as hopes for a China-US trade deal that fuelled a
rally at the end of last week were dashed by Donald Trump’s economics
adviser.
The Hang Seng Index sank 1.65 percent, or 436.01 points, to 26,050.34.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.41 percent, or 11.05
points, to 2,665.43, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks
on China’s second exchange, fell 0.27 percent, or 3.60 points, to 1347.49.
