Residential vocational training centers for women open in 3 upazilas
DHAKA, Nov 4, 2018 (BSS) – Three residential vocational training centers for women were launched today in three upazilas of Narayanganj, Noakhali and Pirojpur districts to facilitate the underprivileged women with skill developing trainings free of cost.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki inaugurated the training centers at Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj, Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali and Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur through videoconferencing from her ministry office this morning, said an official release.
Local lawmaker of Mathbaria Md Rustam Ali Farazi, Women and Children Affairs Secretary Nasima Begum and Additional Secretary Mahmuda Sharmin Benu, Jatiyo Mohila Sangstha (JMS) Chairman Momtaz Begum, JMS Executive Director Jahanara Pervin and Women Affairs Department Director General Kazi Rowshon Akter were present at the function, among others.
Besides, local lawmaker of Araihazar upazila Nazrul Islam Babu and Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of Noakhali and Pirojpur districts joined the function through the videoconferencing.
Women and Children Affairs Ministry has built four residential vocational training centers at Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur, Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj, Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali and Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur at cost of Taka 52.49 crore.
Earlier, the training center at Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur district was inaugurated while the remaining three centers were inaugurated today.
According to the release, the less educated and underprivileged women aged between 18 and 35 will be given trainings on computer, garment related works, tailoring, embroidery, beautification, pasty and bakery production, nursing, midwifery so on in those centers.
The duration of the training will be four months while 50 women could get enrolled in each batch.
