Skills competition can flourish talents

RAJSHAHI, Nov 4, 2018 (BSS) – Experts and industrialists here observed
that skills competition can flourish latent talents and innovative capacity
of the technical students.

They attributed that the present government has created scopes of
arranging skills competition for the students across the country every year
so that they can boost their capacity.

They came up with the observation while addressing the closing session of
a daylong “Skills Competition 2018” at Rajshahi Mohila Polytechnic Institute
(RMPI) campus here on Saturday.

RMPI organized the competition with financial support of Skills and
Training Enhancement Project (STEP) under the Directorate of Technical
Education.

Deputy Director of Local Government Parvej Raihan and STEP Procurement
Officer Mahfuzur Rahman addressed the session as chief and special guests
respectively with RMPI Principal Omor Faruque in the chair.

Executive Magistrate Shaila Sayeed Tonny, RMPI Chief Instructor Selim
Ahmed, Owner of United Plastic Industries Selim Reja and Managing Director of
Raj IT AKM Akteruzzaman also spoke.

In the competition, three out of 14 innovative projects – ‘Ventilator’,
‘The way to Overcome the Water-logging of Dhaka City in Rainwater’ and ‘Load
Control Using Remote Sensor’- showcased by the RMPI students were adjudged as
the best in the present need-aspects.

The speakers called upon the women to come forward to participate in
technical and vocational education for taking the country forward. They
opined that technical, vocational education and training among the women is
very important for achieving the national development.

Parvej Raihan viewed technical education could be effective means of
building competent and skilled human resources.

“We need more technically and technologically sound women to meet up the
social demands,” he mentioned.

Mr Raihan also underscored the need for quality improvement of technical
education for substantial and sustainable boosting the number of women
entrepreneurship.
