DHAKA, Nov 3, 2018 (BSS) – Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today paid homage to four national leaders marking the Jail Killing Day.

In memory of the leaders, Dr Shirin placed wreaths at central shaheed minar at Pirganj, Rangpur, this morning, a press release said here today.

After placing the wreath, she stood in solemn silence there for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memories of the national leaders.

“Today is Jail Killing Day, one of the stigmatic, bloodied and saddest days of human history. After killing Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with most of his family members on August 15, 1975, the killers stormed into the Dhaka Central Jail in the early hours of November 3 and brutally assassinated the four national leaders Tajuddin Ahmed, Syed Nazrul Islam, Captain Monsur Ali and AHM Kamaruzzaman. Such brutal killing is rare in the history of mankind,” she said.

The Speaker urged everyone to turn this sorrow into strength and work jointly to realize Bangabandhu’s dream of building a ‘Sonar Bangla’.

Later, Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury joined a special prayer for the four national leaders.
