Hong Kong stocks start day with gains

HONG KONG, Dec 22, 2017 (BSS/AFP) – Hong Kong stocks rose at the open of trade on Friday after a rebound in US markets, with technology and energy firms leading the way.

The Hang Seng Index added 0.47 percent, or 137.99 points, to 29,505.05.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.07 percent, or 2.37 points, to 3,297.69 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, edged down 0.08 percent, or 1.48 points, to 1,903.57.
