4 JMB operatives held in city

DHAKA, Nov 1, 2018 (BSS) – Police on Tuesday night arrested four
suspected members of the banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen
Bangladesh (JMB) from the city’s Paltan area.

“We arrested four operatives of the JMB, Md Abdul Malek, 44, Md Nazrul
Islam Hridoy,31, Abdur Rob alias Robi,27, and Abdul Hannan, 22, from Baitul
Mukarram Mosque area around 7.20 pm on Tuesday,” said a police official.

A pistol loaded with five rounds of bullet, one blank magazine, two
mobile phone sets and four folding knives from their possessions, he also
said.

Being informed that a gang of 10 to 12 JMB members were holding meeting
at open place near North Gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque, a squad of Counter
Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) conducted the raid and managed to
arrest four of them. The remaining JMB members fled the scene.

During primary interrogation, they said that they assembled as part of
conspiracy to destabilize the country aimed at establishing Khilafah and
Sariah laws in the country.

A case was lodged under Anti-terrorism Act with Paltan Model Police
Station to this end.
