District level science laboratory to be established: BCSIR member
RAJSHAHI, Nov 1, 2018 (BSS)- The government has taken initiative to
establish science laboratory in the prospective districts side by side with
the divisional headquarters aims at flourishing the sector of scientific and
industrial research.
Works of land acquisition have already been started in some of the
districts where time-fitting technology will be innovated for the best uses
of existing agro-based raw materials for scientific and industrial research.
The observation came at a daylong workshop titled “Industrial Research,
Technology Innovation and Development” at conference hall of Bangladesh
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) in Rajshahi city
Wednesday.
BCSIR Member Benjamin Hembrom addressed the workshop as the chief guest
with its Director Obaidul Haque Helali in the chair.
Professor Dr CM Mostofa from Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical
Engineering in Rajshahi University, Additional Deputy Commissioner Alamgir
Kabir, local unit president of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and
Industries Prof Rojety Naznin and BCSIR Senior Scientific Officer Moinuddin
and its Scientist Sharmina Yeasmin also spoke.
The chief guest said all the industrial research and findings of those
should be linked to the private entrepreneurs for successful marketing of the
products together with making those familiarized and accessible to the
consumers in general.
“You should be practical and your research outputs must be people-
oriented,” Hembrom reminded the scientists adding that carrying out valueless
research by spending public money must be stopped.
He put emphasis on exploring the potentiality of the region so that it
could be flourished industrially for its economic emancipation.
Referring to the adverse impact of climate change, he called upon the
scientists to innovate adaptive measures through in-depth research to coup
with the unpleasant situation.
Hembrom referred to the government’s commitment to build knowledge,
science and technology-based society and asked the researchers to supplement
the endeavor through their wholehearted efforts.
