DHAKA, Dec 21, 2017 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said child abuse related ceases would be disposed of on a priority basis through fast track system.
“Child abduction, missing, killing and violence against them are tied with a same string. So, the exemplary punishment will be taken against those who are involved in such kind of crimes to avert the recurrence of the crimes,” the minister said replying to a question at the Child Parliament Session in the city.
The 15th Child Parliament Session titled ‘Stop Violence against Child’ was held at the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) Auditorium in the city’s Agargaon area, said a press release here today.
Like previous years, the session was held with the assistance of Save the Children Bangladesh, Plan International Bangladesh and Bangladesh Shishu Academy where more than 150 children representatives from 64 districts and 16 special regions of the country joined the event.
The children through posing different questions to the minister pleaded for increasing budget allocation, technical assistance and manpower for effective implementation of the Child Act -2013.
Replying to their (children) questions, the law minister said he will request the finance minister for increasing budget allocation in this regard.
The roles of parents and teachers cast great impact in stopping violence against the children, the minister said urging the parents to become more aware in this regard.
“We will do everything what would require to implement the child related laws and ensure rights of the children. None would be spared by torturing the child,” he said.
“They (children) will hold the leading positions of the country in future. It’s our responsibility to groom up them as worthy citizens for the developed state,” the minister added.
Save the Children Child Rights Governance Division Head Laila Khandaker, Plan International Bangladesh Country Director Orla Murphy and Child Rights and Protection Division Head Tania Nusrat Zaman were present in the session, among others.
