Govt to build training institute on occupational health in Rajshahi

DHAKA, October 31, 2018 (BSS) – The government has embarked on a plan to establish a research and training institute to ensure national health and security of industrial workers in Rajshahi.

State Minister for Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque will lay the foundation stone of the institute in Terkheda area of Rajshahi, said a press release here today.

The institute would be constructed on 19 bighas of land at a cost of approximately Taka 165 crore, it added.

A safe and healthy environment in the industrial sector has to be ensured to boost production, the statement said. The government has formulated the National Occupational Health and Safety Policy in 2013 in this regard, it added.

The present government is committed to ensure occupational health and safety of workers, it said.

The government has been observing ‘National Occupational Health and Safety Day’ on April 28 every year since 2016 to create awareness on occupational health and safety.
