Senior jurists denounce pro-BNP lawyer’s SC boycott
DHAKA, Oct 31, 2018 (BSS) – Senior jurists today denounced boycott of
Supreme Court (SC) by pro-BNP lawyers, terming at as a programme contrary to
the constitution of bar council.
“If they want to oppose the verdict, they have to do it through legal way.
The decision to boycott the Supreme Court was not made by the Supreme Court
Bar Council. Khaleda’s counsels can boycott the court, but they cannot force
general lawyers to do it by locking the doors of the court,” vice-chairman of
Bangladesh Bar Council and senior lawyer Yusuf Hossain Humayun said.
Former general secretary of Supreme Court Bar Council SM Rezaul Karim also
slammed the decision, saying it contrary to the constitution of bar council.
“They (pro-BNP lawyers) selected Supreme Court as their last refuge to
implement their political agendas and save their corrupt leaders. This
programme is not for the wellbeing of lawyers or bar council, it is only for
their political purpose,” SM Rezaul Karim, also the Legal Affairs Secretary
of Bangladesh Awami League, added.
