Bus driver jailed for killing youth in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, Oct 31, 2018 (BSS)- A judicial magistrate court here on Tuesday
convicted a bus driver and sentenced him to suffer one year and three months
rigorous imprisonment on charge of killing a youth in the district around
three and a half years back.
The convict identified as Selim Khan, 50, a resident of Mondalpara area
under Shahmukhdum Police Station in Rajshahi city, has also been fined Taka
5,000, in default, to suffer one month more in jail.
Judge of Chief Judicial Magistrate Court-3 Uzzal Mahmud found the accused
guilty of the charge and pronounced the verdict in presence of him.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that bicycle rider Goutam Sarker, 22,
was killed on the spot when a bus dashed him in Sadhurmore Bottola area under
Durgapur Upazila on June 18, 2015.
The accident took place due to reckless driving of Selim Khan, said the
court sources. The court examined recorded deposition of 11 prosecution
witnesses and other relevant evidences before handing down the judgment.
Public Prosecutor Kartik Chandra Paul conducted the case on behalf of the
state.
