RAJSHAHI, Oct 31, 2018 (BSS)-The three-day Kheturdham festival (Khetur
Mohotsav) ended at Premtali Gourangabari under Godagari upazila of the
district on Tuesday amidst assemblage of thousands of devotees from home and
abroad.

The festival, one of the largest religious congregations of the followers
of Baishnava (Hindu) religion in the Indian sub-continent, is held at Khetur
and at Gourangabari of Premtali under Godagari every year to mark the death
anniversary of Shree Shree Thakur Narottam Das.

Every year, Hindu devotees from all over Bangladesh and from various
provinces of India, Nepal, France, USA and Australia visit Kheturdham to pay
tribute to the soul of Thakur Narottam Das and get relief from all sins.

It is learnt, like the Hindu holy places of Goya, Kashi and Brindaban,
Khetur (Kheturdham) at Premtali under Godagari upazila is a sacred place for
the followers of Baishnava (Hindu).

Followers of Baishnava are also Hindu by religion but they do not believe
in Puja at altars.

According to sources concerned, Shree Shree Thakur Narottam Das was a
disciple of famous Baishnava preacher Shree Chaityanna Dev.

Being charmed and satisfied with the devotion of Thakur Narottam Das,
Shree Chaityanna Dev himself came to Khetur in Premtali and blessed Thakur
Narottam Das, says the historical records.

Since 1581, the Khetur Mohotsav or the Khetur Mela is being held in
Premtali during the third or fourth week of October every year.
