Dhaka to host 4th RCG conference in January
DHAKA, Oct 30, 2018 (BSS) – The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief
today decided to hold the 4th International Conference on Regional
Consultative Group (RCG) in the fourth week of January, 2019.
The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting held at the
ministry’s conference room with Disaster Management and Relief Minister
Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury (Maya) in the chair, an official release said
today.
Md Shah Kamal, secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Ministry,
Director General of Disaster Management Department Syed MA Hashim and senior
officials of different ministries were present on the occasion.
Speaking at the meeting Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury said Bangladesh is
considered a role model in managing natural disasters. As the type and
intensity of disasters are changing, the country needs to equip itself with
latest disaster preparedness, management and risk reduction techniques.
Representatives from 40 countries and international organizations
concerned will be invited to attend the conference.
The multi-stakeholder group, Regional Consultative Group (RCG), on
Humanitarian Civil-Military Coordination for Asia and the Pacific, was formed
in 2014 to act as a regional forum that brings together the humanitarian,
civilian and military actors involved in disaster response preparedness
planning and disaster response in the region.
